If you love the Toro series of games from Elk Studios, prepare for something a little different. This time you’ll be heading to Egypt in Book of Toro as the famous bull goes on tour! It’s a mash-up of two famous online slots with prizes of up to x10,000 but will the different format be like a red rag to a bull…?
The new flurry of Toro slots is due to Elk Studios celebrating the fifth anniversary of its iconic hit Wild Toro. Elk is releasing three new Toro-themed games to commemorate the original slot game, which has become a classic. The first was Wild Toro 2, a fairly obvious option for a sequel, but in this second slot, they've gone rogue, taking the bull to Egypt. The "Book of…" games are another much-loved series of slots, but none feature a matador and a bull - until now! With bull-fighting action taking place in Egypt, it's a unique take that's certainly original.
Although the theme of the game is a little bonkers, the grid is reassuringly familiar. You'll be playing on a 5x3 board that includes ten fixed paylines. Betting runs from 0.20 to 100.00 with medium-high volatility, so there's plenty to attract both low rollers and jackpot-seekers.
The design of the game initially looks just like many of the other "Book of…" slots, as the Egyptian theme is what you'll notice first. The wings of Horus spread above the reels while two golden sarcophagi flank the sides. But look more closely, and you'll start to notice that this is no ordinary Egyptian game. The logo has tiny little bull horns, and on the reels, there's much more than the usual archaeological artefacts.
The symbols are where you'll really notice the influence of the Toro theme, but not in the regular pays. Royal playing cards with an Egyptian design make up the low pays with a scarab beetle and the Eye of Ra in the premium set. However, the top value symbol is the matador, dressed up to look like an archaeologist but instantly recognisable!
Wilds are always a help on the reels, and in Book of Toro, you'll find a few different types. There are two types of standard wild that substitute for the regular symbols, but there's also Toro himself, who is a Walking Wild.
Every time Toro makes an appearance on the reels, he'll move across, one reel at a time. Each time he moves, you'll get a respin. While Toro is around, the regular Book of Wild turns sticky, locking in place for the duration.
If Toro spots mummies on the reels when he appears, he won't be a happy bull, which triggers the Toro Goes Wild feature. He will chase the mummies across the reels, but in his wake, you'll be left with a trail of wilds. The mummies seem pretty keen to torment Toro as if two of them land, but there's no Toro in sight, you'll get a free respin to try and encourage him to appear!
As well as the features which are based on Toro, there are also free spins that you'll qualify for if you land three or more scatters. Like other "Book of…" slots before the free spins round begins, a random symbol will be chosen as the expanding scatter.
If a low pay symbol is selected, three need to land to expand and trigger the scatter pays a prize. If it's a premium symbol, you only need two to trigger the scatter reward.
As an extra incentive, the Walking Wilds are also available during the free spins round, so it's possible to scoop some pretty impressive prizes during the bonus.
If you enjoy Toro slots and the "Book of…" series, then Book of Toro from Elk Studios will be a real treat. It's a fun-packed slot that you can play online at bwin, with an entertaining theme and plenty of prizes. A top payout of x10,000 and medium-high volatility is tempting for high rollers, but you don't need a big bank balance to join in. A great all-rounder that's sure to entertain, Book of Toro is an excellent addition to the series.
