Anyone who’s been a football fan for a while will know that this isn’t a slot that’s about guns, archery or shooting. Shoot! is an online slot from Microgaming which pays tribute to the famous footballing magazine of yesteryear.

First published in 1969, Shoot! was a footballing magazine that was published weekly, then monthly up until 2008. It featured a wide range of footballing articles, with interviews from players plus a different "star writer" for each publication which included top names Bryan Robson, Kevin Keegan and Alan Ball. The magazine may no longer be in printed publication, but Microgaming has captured its essence with an online slot game!

Shoot! is played on a 5x3 board which includes 50 traditional paylines. You won’t need the millions of a footballer to play, as betting starts from just 0.50 total per spin. Those hunting down the bigger payouts can bet up to a maximum of 100.00.

Modern footballing superstars include Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo, but there are some incredible footballers of the past that paved the way. Many footballing slots use generic or fictional images, but that's not the case here. Microgaming's slot includes famous faces such as Cruyff, Pele, Beckenbauer and Maradona.  

There's a range of retro football paraphernalia on the reels, such as the now-defunct football rattle, plus pies and a football. There is a wild symbol included on the board, which is the game's logo. This can substitute for any of the regular pays to help you line up a winning combination.

For a game that has so many winners, it's somewhat lacking when it comes to extra features. Luckily there are some bonus rounds, so there is the potential to increase your prize tally. 

There are no scatters on the reels, but you could land bonus symbols. As well as having a cash value, landing three or more of the bonus symbol will trigger the Trade’ Em bonus feature.

During the Trade 'Em bonus, players will be given a number of football cards to pick from, with four choices to be made from a total of 12 cards. The cards will reveal prizes for the player to receive, but they could also reveal one of two additional bonus rounds. The card overturned will specify which of the bonus rounds apply. 

The Magazine Bonus is another pick 'em round with players presented with 12 different magazines rather than football cards. Behind 10 of the magazines, there is a prize but beware! Two of the magazines are hiding a red card - if you uncover one of these, the bonus round will be over.

The other bonus is the free spins round which includes a multiplier of x2.
