Fire Hopper Online Slot Review

Jump on a lily pad and get into the action with Fire Hopper, the new online slot from Push Gaming. Released in December 2021, Fire Hopper is heavy on the hopping, with a bunch of frogs leading the way. With some fun features and an incredible top payout of x50,000, you'd better hop to it if you want to be in with a chance!

You'll find out more about how to play Fire Hopper below, but one thing you should know from the start is that it's a cluster pays slot. This means that you don't need a long line of matching symbols to get a prize, but a small clump of them. Just like normal, the more symbols you cluster together, the higher the price will be. NetEnt were the first studio to use Cluster Pays with Aloha! but many other developers now use this mechanism. Push Gaming already have a few slots with cluster pays, such as Jammin' Jars and Booty Bay.

Head to the waterfront, and you'll find a grid that's a square-sized 7x7. This is bigger than the usual board, but it's perfect for accommodating the cluster pays mechanism. You can join in the fun from 0.10 for a min bet, which increases to 100.00 for those tracking the big-money payouts. Volatility is high, too, so you can expect larger payouts that are less frequent.

Feature Symbols

Although many slots pride themselves on an upbeat and chaotic pace, Fire Hopper is the exact opposite. With a soundtrack featuring birdsong, tranquil waters and drifting lily pads, it lives up to the serene environment that it promises. But although things seem peaceful, don't be fooled: there's more than there looks beneath the surface. When the game gets going, the action on the lily pads is red-hot!

Like many of the cluster pay slots, the regular symbols on the paytable are relatively unremarkable. In Fire Hopper, there's a series of six different coloured lotus flowers, which pay up to x200 for a cluster of 20 or more.

You'll need a cluster of five or more to win, which means they should touch either horizontally or vertically. Diagonal matches don't count in this game. Every time you make a matching cluster, the symbols will disappear from the reels, and new ones will drop onto the grid from above. This will keep on repeating until there are no more visible clusters on the board.

Bonuses

Fire Hopper Bonus - bwin

If you’ve played Jammin’ Jars before, many of the bonus features will have a very familiar feel. However, they’re fun to play, so that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

There are two wilds in this slot, and both of them come in the form of a frog. Whether you land a coloured frog or a golden frog, they can substitute for any of the regular symbols to make more matches. The good news is that they also bring other benefits!

If a coloured frog appears on the reels at the same time as a firefly, the frog will leap towards the firefly, leaving a golden frog in his wake. A multiplier will increase every time the frog jumps, upping your potential prize.

If there is a coloured frog and an instant prize symbol on the reels, the frog will leap towards it, creating another golden frog and a multiplier with a maximum of x1000.

As you might be starting to realise, the frog is integral to the action - but good things happen when fireflies appear simultaneously. When a frog and a bonus firefly are on the reels simultaneously, the frog will get leaping again - but this time, you'll be awarded seven free spins.

Any multipliers that you've built up from the frog hopping around will be carried through to the free spins round. The frog will remain on the reels, and this can push the multiplier up even further. If any gold frogs appear, they will take on the multiplier of the coloured frog.

If you're a fan of Cluster Pays slots, then Fire Hopper is a game that should get you leaping for the spin button. Push Gaming have created a highly volatile title, so you shouldn't expect prizes to be flooding in on every turn. Despite this, there's enough movement with the frogs hopping around on the lily pads to keep players entertained between payouts, making it a fun game for all to try.
